Message from the President

Our coeducational system has gradually taken hold in Shiga Junior College. We offer a broad curriculum with a rich choice of learning opportunities based on the educational policy, “A Realization of High Quality Education.”

Shiga Junior College (SJC) is in the second year of a new system of coeducation. The campus is bursting with vitality of 49 male and 333 female freshmen as well as 353 second years (including 39 male students). As you see, our coeducational system has gradually taken hold here.

Under the founding philosophy of the educational corporation Sumire Gakuen, “the Harmony of Heart & Hand,” SJC has an educational aim to foster widely informed and highly skilled members of society with a rich sense of humanity. To achieve this aim, all of the faculty and staff members help our students with their learning. “Tomorrow you must be conscious of your full potential…: we will watch over and support each and every one of our students” is our slogan so that the faculty and staff members enjoy the pleasure of learning together with all the students at SJC.

Our students have their own career goal to be:

1.	a specialist of “Shokuiku” (food education), confectionery production, and daily life environmental creation,
2.	a kindergarten or nursery school teacher who helps children shape their future,
3.	an office worker or a medical processor as hospitality-minded staff in businesses.

Through their learning, they are acquiring their practical abilities in their fields.

For over 40 years since the foundation, SJC has offered such practical education and has sent more than 10,000 graduates into the real world. To ensure our graduates are able to play an active part in society, SJC will continue to be a junior college well-known for its better job placement and employment rate, while valuing over 40 years of tradition observed and results achieved here in SJC.
